First instance of a bank supporting project-level private market financing for new nuclear in the U.S., showcasing Blue Energy’s financeable model

CHEVY CHASE, Maryland (September 1, 2026)Blue Energy today announced it has retained Societe Generale to act as financial advisor to assist in structuring and arranging project financing for Blue Energy’s proposed Victoria, Texas gas-to-nuclear inaugural project. The engagement of Societe Generale showcases Blue Energy’s central differentiator in the nuclear sector: solving cost and schedule risk to enable project financing with private capital. This arrangement marks the first instance of a bank advising the project level private market financing of a new nuclear power plant in the U.S. and provides a key independent validation from the financial markets of Blue Energy’s deployment strategy.

Blue Energy’s prefabricated, standardized approach to build, transport and assemble nuclear power plants – the “Blue Way” – slashes time-to-power by more than a decade and significantly reduces costs and risk, compared to traditional nuclear. The company’s inaugural project in Texas will deploy both GE Vernova 7HA.02 gas turbines and GVH BWRX-300 small modular reactors in a first-of-its-kind, gas-to-nuclear power plant. The gas turbines are expected to come online in 2030 and the first SMR in 2032, subject to final investment decision in 2027.

“In order for nuclear to scale, it needs to be financeable. And in order to prove that model works, we need to build this first project with private capital, not on the backs of ratepayers,” said Jake Jurewicz, CEO and co-founder of Blue Energy. “We chose Societe Generale because of their established track record advising large-scale, first-of-a-kind transactions in the energy sector. This continues our collaborations with premier companies to get our first nuclear project built, the ‘Blue Way’.”

“We are excited to partner with Blue Energy on this groundbreaking mandate, which represents an important milestone in unlocking the ability to deploy private capital markets that can accelerate advanced nuclear just like it has for wind, solar, and battery technologies, to meet the world’s evolving energy and infrastructure needs,” said Kim Hill, transaction lead at Societe Generale.

Societe Generale will work alongside Blue Energy’s management team to evaluate financing structures, engage with prospective lenders and capital providers, and support Blue Energy’s efforts to reach financial close on the project.

Societe Generale was selected following a competitive request-for-proposal process. The bank was named “Americas Bank of the Year” for 2025 by Project Finance International, a leading industry publication.
